AsviS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development), celebrates the first 5 years of activity with a book that traces the most important stages. (1)
'5 years of AsviS. History of an Alliance for Italy of 2030'is a valuable tool for analyzing the progress made and the new challenges of the largest coalition of civil society in Italy, with nearly 300 member organizations.
In fact, since the beginning of 2016, through the involvement of individuals, economic subjects and institutions, AsviS contributes to developing awareness of the importance of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and promotes the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs -Sustainable Development Goals) (2,3).
It is March 11, 2016 when the ASviS presents itself to the institutions for the first time with its 80 organizations united by a single mission: to mobilize Italian society to create an Italy and a world that is sustainable on an economic, social, environmental and institutional level.
In no time, becomes a key interlocutor of the government in the preparation of the Italian strategy for sustainable development and makes its first proposals to the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea (MATTM).
It is then signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education, University and Research (Miur) and the ASviS, which allows the Alliance to launch training courses for teachers on the topics of the 2030 Agenda.
The 28 September 2016, the Alliance presents its first Annual Report, an important and unique tool aimed at assessing the position of Europe and Italy, with respect to the Agenda 2030 objectives and highlights the unsustainability of the current development model and proposes to insert the principle of sustainable development in the Constitution.
The 22 May the Italian Festival of Sustainable Development is inaugurated, an extraordinary “bottom-up” mobilization tool, which will last 17 days, as many as the Sustainable Development Goals, with events organized throughout the country.
the 2016 it will close with an audience at the Quirinale. An ASviS delegation is received by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, to whom the Alliance and the main proposals contained in the Report are presented.
the 2017 it is the year in which ASviS establishes relationships of international collaboration, especially with European civil society. Thus was born Europe Ambition 2030, a coalition of 14 organizations, including ASviS itself.
The year ends with the approval of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development by the CIPE (Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning), a document drawn up with the collaboration of the various ministries, to the drafting of which the ASviS, representing the Italian civil society, also contributes.
It is the year of the elections policies and ASviS organizes a series of talks with party representatives and with leader Europeans, to include sustainable development issues in their respective electoral programs.
Following of these meetings, most of the main political parties subscribe to the Manifesto launched on February 5 by ASviS, which describes in 10 points all the fundamental initiatives to put Italy on a path of sustainability.
In February the Alliance presents the Analysis of the Budget Law in the light of the 2030 Agenda, a highly innovative publication, which demonstrates the feasibility of an assessment of budgetary legislation, according to the principles of sustainable development.
The Control Room is established "Benessere Italia" at the Presidency of the Council, with the task of implementing and guaranteeing sustainable development and well-being throughout Italy, promoting and coordinating the government's initiatives for Fair and Sustainable Wellbeing (BES) and for the implementation of the Strategy national for sustainable development.
the 2019 it also sees a real qualitative leap in the Alliance's action in the field of education for sustainable development. The e-learning course "The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals".
In September then there is the approval of the law on the introduction of civic education in schools "Civic education contributes to forming responsible and active citizens and to promoting full and conscious participation in the civic, cultural and social life of communities, in compliance with the rules, rights and duties"(Art. 1 L.92 / 2019).
Closes the year a very important result: in fact, the Government and Parliament approve the change of name of the CIPE into CIPESS, the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development, accepting one of the proposals, which had been put forward by the Alliance from the beginning.
With the change of the denomination, starting from 1 January 2021, the coordination of economic policies is oriented towards sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda.
It is the year of resilience. The pandemic does not stop the ASviS, which, on the contrary, strengthens its commitment, seizing new opportunities for dialogue and mobilization of Italian society and committing itself to orient policies even more towards sustainability.
Between May and June the first three “ASviS Live” are organized, high-level live events streaming, which prepare the ground for the Festival, stimulating dialogue on the recovery and future of the country in the name of sustainability.
With the 2020 Festival, the “ORADIAGIRE” campaign was launched, in order to enhance the initiatives put in place to overcome the emergency in the name of sustainability, obtaining the best results ever in terms of mobilizing public opinion.
In February the ASviS is audited by the Budget and Environment Commissions of the Chamber of Deputies on the draft PNRR.
The 10 February is held in streaming the ASviS Live event "We want to decide on our future! Young people evaluate the Italian plans for the Next generation EU”, A moment of public listening and discussion among the younger generations on what future to design for the country through the PNRR. The Working Group dedicated to the youth associations of ASviS adherents contributes to the Report on the analysis of the 2021 Budget Law and the PNRR.
A path, that of AsviS full of initiatives, good goals and numerous new projects for a sustainable future. Based on a structural and systematic collaboration between public institutions, social partners, the world of research and civil society, with a continuous comparison between different skills and contamination of different knowledge, far from sectoral logic.
With 2021 the "decade of action" launched by the UN to achieve the 2030 Agenda has begun, a race against time, towards a sustainable future, which AsviS and we all do not want to lose.
