A group of criminals is using the name of our association Égalité to commit computer scams. We have already reported some of these crimes to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Rome, through the Postal Police, but the scams continue. Be careful!
The scammers They lure victims via Whatsapp, through telephone numbers registered in Germany (+49) and France (+33). They present themselves as the 'marketing office' of the Égalité association, with images of membership cards where the logo of our association is falsified.
Our association Égalité has nothing to do with these criminals and has already denounced the false use of its name and logo by them. The Égalité association does not even have a 'marketing office', precisely because it has nothing to 'sell' nor does it carry out any commercial activity.
The criminals They often transfer conversations with their victims to Telegram and offer them 'easy earnings' in various ways. From adding clicks and 'likes' to images and posts on social networks to engaging them on a web platform for 'investments'.
A web platform with the name of our association it was even created and is still online, despite our complaint to the Postal Police. The scammers invite their victims to use it and then make payments, via Revolut and/or bank transfers, behind the false promise of earnings.
The victims they start paying money to the scammers, under the illusion of building up a much larger credit. And when the scammed people ask for the balance in their favor, the criminals engage them in an upward bet, inviting them to pay more money to receive even more. Something that will never happen.
Who has been scammed in question may file a complaint with the competent authorities. Since our association is following the case and intends to propose further requests to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Rome, we also invite the victims to send us a copy of the receipts of the payments made together with their name, surname and telephone number, to the address egaliteonlus@gmail.com.
