Many teenagers have probably discovered Antitrust on the occasion of the recent sanction imposed on the companies of the influencer Chiara Ferragni. (1) A case like many of 'unfair commercial practices' committed on social networks. (2) Being indignant is not enough to prevent these phenomena, knowledge is needed.
Precisely to educate young people on the many traps that undermine the daily life of consumers - including disabled people struggling with assistance for broken aids - (3) the Authority is organizing, for the third consecutive year, the #convienesaperlo prize campaign aimed at to middle and high school students.
The portal dedicated to the training of young people, it exemplifies the complex framework of protection of consumer rights through the reference to sensational procedures, including some that directly impact young people. Some examples:
– oppressive clauses in the sale of season tickets and tickets to follow football matches,
– HP printers which (without notice to the buyer) only work with original cartridges, although it is common (and legitimate) to replace them with commercial ones,
– telephony and mobile contracts concluded remotely by the main telephone companies (Telecom, Vodafone, Wind, Fastweb and Tiscali) without providing the customer with adequate information,
– advertisements for ENI's 'green' diesel.
Many more traps they undermine young people, even encouraging them to consume junk food. (4)
The campaign Antitrust training program involves young people through the '#convienesaperlo (even at school) 2.0' prize competition which has its highlight in the online quiz game.
