Disabled, immunocompromised, elderly. Free delivery and with shopping priority is our request to distribution and ecommerce operators in Italy. A petition to be signed and carried forward.
Fragility and disinterest
The emergency Covid-19 once again revealed the gravity of the conditions in which the most vulnerable people live in Italy. And the widespread disinterest, not only of politics and administration, but also of the private sector. People with disability they are useful for ritually unfulfilled electoral promises (see example caregiver family https://www.egalite.org/se-
Égalité he already wrote to Easy Coop last week https://www.egalite.org/
Letter from Égalité to Italian supermarkets. Our petition
On 17.3.20 Égalité turned to the Modern Distribution Association, ADM. (1) With a letter to its president Giorgio Santambrogio, for information to the prime minister Giuseppe Conte.
The Covid-19 emergency it still exposes people with disabilities and immunocompromised people, as well as the elderly, to serious difficulties linked to the impossibility and / or danger of going out to buy essential goods, starting with food shopping.
Social services, assistance and accompanying services as well as public and private transport are reduced when not even suspended and home shopping delivery services inevitably suffer considerable delays, due to the peak of demand. (2)
What we ask
We ask the modern distribution in Italy to immediately organize the shopping delivery services online, or by telephone order, with
▶️ precedence of deliveries to people with disabilities and immunocompromise, then to over-65s,
▶️ free delivery in their favor. (3)
A further criticality it is represented by the scarce geographical coverage of shopping services on the Italian territory, with particular regard to peripheral areas and small municipalities. Aware of the organizational limits of distribution in Italy, we invite you to organize
▶ solidarity networks, also with the contribution of local associations. In order to extend, at least in this delicate phase, the possibility of carrying out home deliveries for the most vulnerable people.
Social impact
The social impact of the aid requested is absolutely evident when we consider that the community of disabled people in Italy alone consists of 3,1 million people, equal to 5,2% of the population. And that 600 thousand of them, even before the Covid-19 emergency, lived in conditions of complete isolation (see in this regard the ISTAT report Know the disability, 3.12.19, https://www.istat.it/it/files/
After the emergency, autonomy for the disabled
On the occasion we point out our no-profit project #Smart chair, which aspires to the industrial-scale production of wheelchairs equipped with electric motors. With the aim of promoting the autonomy of movement of people with motor disabilities.
The project industry has already been finalized and a campaign of donation crowdfunding https://www.
Thank you!

Footnotes
(1) ADM represents Federdistribuzione, ANCC and ANCD (coop and Conad) and the galaxy of supermarkets e convenience store such as CRAI, Coralis, Sigma, etc.
(2) It is essential guaranteeing continuity of supplies to vulnerable people, also to prevent nutritional deficiencies that can negatively affect the body's ability to react to infections or in any case compromise its functionality. V. https://www.
(3) Economic fragility of people with serious disabilities is easy to understand, since they have to live on an accompanying allowance which in 2020 is equal to 520 € / month, and possibly the disability pension of 286 €
