Against degradation and for the valorisation of the urban territory, a group of associations coordinated by the New Magliana and Égalité neighborhood committee invites citizens to a morning meeting for the recovery of the Torre del Giudizio, testimony to ancient Rome, and the promotion of the Parco della Gioia, a project of contemporary Rome.
Appointment for the Torre del Giudizio, the Parco della Gioia and the Parco Ruspoli
The Tower of Judgment, 'which is accessed along the very small Via Teodora, stands above the remains of a monumental tomb from the XNUMXst century AD. C. of which it preserves a large burial chamber. In medieval times an elevation was built on the tomb and consequently the transformation of the monument into a watchtower and defense on the Tiber', reports the Sotterranei di Roma association. (1)
Joy Park, in the same Roman neighborhood of Magliana, rich in archaeological evidence, is instead a project aimed at transforming a currently abandoned green area - currently at risk of overbuilding for residential use - into a place for meeting and sharing. (2) As part of the broader Ruspoli park project, already authorized in 2017 after six years of participatory planning and then abandoned without justification. (3)
Preserve and relaunch
The area adjacent to the Judgment Tower it urgently needs reclamation because nowis in truly critical condition', denounces the group led by the New Magliana Neighborhood Committee, which has already warned the relevant bodies to comply.
Equally urgent it is the restoration of the Tower, a piece of the archaeological and cultural heritage of Rome which risks crumbling due to the indifference of the administrators, called to look after the entire Eternal City.
Visit to the Parco della Gioia
The morning of 'aware' citizens ends with a visit coordinated by Égalité in via dei Grottoni, in the green area where it is hoped the Parco della Gioia will be created, as a re-starting point for the Ruspoli Park: a green space for everyone, without barriers physical and cultural, in the name of sharing and developing bold urban green initiatives, inclusion and social gardens, energy saving.
Appointment Saturday 2 December 2023, from 10 to 11,30, at the dog area in Via della Magliana (on the opposite side of the Parish of the Sacred Face of Jesus).
