The campaign of donation crowdfunding dedicated to the Intelligent Chair, launched by Égalité Onlus on 8.3.20 on the Produzioni dal Basso platform.
The collection - despite the difficulties related to Covid - allowed us to conclude the design phase and verify its effectiveness on the various prototypes built in the meantime.
The project of the Intelligent Chair was awarded at the #MaketoCare contest, on 10.12.20, to the European edition of Makers' Faire last December.
Industrial production no profit of the #SediaIntelligente will start as soon as we have collected the sums (€ 150 thousand) necessary to build the templates and masks for the titanium frames and carbon wheels. Meanwhile, the tests of the prototypes continue.
We trust to be able to start in the second half of 2021, thanks to the fundraising led by our new general secretary Michele Santarella, appointed on 4.3.21, with the contribution of NeXt Economy and University of Roma Tre.

The #Intelligent Chair, we recall, it consists of two parts.
A) an É-GT super light titanium wheelchair, which stands out for
- suspensions that cushion road bumps and thus reduce back injuries,
- lifting of the seat from a standstill, to overcome the 'invisible line' (e.g. bars, counters) and be closer to those standing,
- braking system on the main wheels. No more nightmarish descents in the wet.
B) A front wheel with electric motor and handlebar, É-TR, which can be hooked and unhooked with one hand, without effort. The chair thus turns into a three-wheeled electric bike. The chair and the tractor are designed 'for each other', so that those who do not walk or are not able to walk for a few kilometers can use the trike with ease, safety and comfort.
People with disabilities in Italy there are over 3,1 million. There are also many elderly people (22,6 million over-65, of which half over-75). And the many others who live in fragile conditions that are incompatible with long walks and / or the use of bikes for daily tasks.
The Smart Chair will be able to help many of them, in Italy and abroad, to move independently with a high-efficiency and low-cost sustainable micro-mobility tool. Everyone's help is invaluable in facing the initial investment and thus reducing unit prices, aligned with production costs.
